Your privacy on this website
How we collect and use your data.
Our server logs collect data about the pages you visit on our website. We use these logs to monitor the performance of the website and to make improvements. Apart from this data, the only places we collect data from are any forms you choose to fill in on the website, and our shopping basket system.
Forms on the website
The website contains several forms, which you may use to communicate with us. The forms all have a privacy statement, saying how we will use your data. We won't use your data for any other purpose unless you ask us to. If the form is collecting sensitive data (your credit card details, for example), the page will have our verisign logo on (on the right) and the data will come to us encrypted. See our security page for more details.
The shopping basket
The shopping basket system is currently used just to order publications. You are only using the shopping basket if you click the 'add to shopping basket' link or the shopping basket icon, (see right).
The shopping basket requires that your computer has cookies enabled. Cookies are small chunks of data that are stored on your computer that allow the website to remember information between pages.
Cookies are only used in the shopping basket - nowhere else on the BAAF site. The shopping basket cookies store your name, address, contact details and chosen items - NO financial data is stored. If you do not allow cookies, or your network administrator has disabled them, you will not be able to use the shopping basket, please see other ways of ordering. For more information about cookies see BBC Webwise.
Cookies from the shopping basket are automatically deleted from your computer at the end of your browser session. If you are concerned about the contents of the cookies, please close all your browser windows before leaving the site. This will delete the data they hold. You can also delete all BAAF cookies by clicking the 'empty shopping basket' button on the shopping basket page. All cookies are automatically deleted when you complete your order.
Once you move on to order your books, you send us your details in a form, which comes to us in an encrypted email (see our security page). We only use this data to fulfil your order, unless you have asked us to use it for any other purposes - as detailed in forms on the website above.
