Your support will help us reach some of the most disadvantaged children in the UK. Giving money to charity during the credit crunch might not be so easy, but whatever donation you can afford to make really does make a difference to our work.

Making a donation

  • Call us on 020 7421 2630.
  • Donate securely online using your credit or debit card (see why this is secure).
  • Send a cheque payable to "BAAF Registered Charity" to: Freepost RLZX-JTUG-ASHY, BAAF, 6-10 Kirby Street, London EC1N 8TS

Giving regularly

Could you give a regular donation? Regular gifts each month, quarter or year help us to plan for the long term.

If you feel able to help in this way please use our standing order form (word doc or pdf ) - please print, complete and post or fax it back to us.

Payroll giving

Payroll giving (sometimes called Give As You Earn) can significantly increase the value of your donation. It's a way for employees to make charitable donations from their gross pay. Because the donation is made before tax, BAAF receives a larger gift than the cost to you.
For example, if your monthly gift is £10:
Cost to donor paying 22% tax: £7.80
Cost to donor paying 40% tax: £6

The Child Concern Consortium

Child Concern logo

BAAF is part of Child Concern Consortium, a special group of five small charities that work together to raise funds and provide support for vulnerable children and their families. The other charities are Action for Sick Children, 4Children, The Fostering Network and Working Families. You can help all five charities by donating to the Consortium through your payroll. For more information and a registration form visit www.childconcernconsortium.org.uk

Legacies

BAAF celebrated 25 years of family finding in 2005. We will be here for the long term, and legacies are vital to our work. Legacies us to plan for the long term needs of children who cannot live with their birth families.

A Will is your gift to the people and causes that were important to you during your lifetime. It is also the only way to make sure that your wishes are carried out after your death, yet two-thirds of the population still fail to make a Will.

Without a valid Will, it is possible that your entire estate could go to the Crown. Even if you are married, living with a partner or have children, it is wrong to assume that they will automatically receive your estate should you die.

Remembering BAAF in your Will is an excellent way to support our work for vulnerable children. Because charitable legacies are exempt from Inheritance Tax, all of your gift will go to giving children the chance of finding a permanent, loving family.

If you don't have a Will, please consult your solicitor or call us on 020 7421 2629.

Giving shares

You may have small amounts of shares that you don't want. Asking a stockbroker to sell small parcels of shares could cost more than they are worth. Or the dividends may still need to be declared, causing you tax headaches.

Why not donate these shares through ShareGIFT?

This charity share donation scheme can turn your shares into gifts for BAAF. Giving via ShareGIFT doesn't cost you anything. Nor will you pay Capital Gains Tax. There are also now big tax benefits for supporters wishing to donate high value shares, especially if you are a higher-rate taxpayer.

It's quick and easy to do. Just send the certificate(s) of the shares you want to donate to us with the necessary form (which we can provide), and we will start the process of transferring them for you.

Call us on 020 7421 2630 for more information.

Gift Aid it

Giving BAAF a Gift Aid declaration means we can claim back the tax on your donation, making it worth almost one third more to BAAF. Click here to download our simple Gift Aid form (pdf).

Where your money goes

Thanks to our supporters, BAAF finds families for over 400 children a year, and answers around 1,000 calls a month from families hoping to adopt. Every penny raised for BAAF supports our work with children in care and those who look after them; adoptive and foster families and child care workers.

£10 could support our helpline for adopted adults and birth families trying to trace relatives separated by adoption

£20 could help us respond to 15 calls from families wanting to adopt a child featured in Be My Parent

£5 a month could support our family finding website, www.bemyparent.org.uk

Thank you for your support. For further information about where the money goes, contact fundraising@baaf.org.uk or call Audrey on 020 7421 2629.
